À propos du sommet DR 2021

The 2021 Disaster and Resilience International Summit is an event that will take place virtually from June 14 to 18, 2021. It will be a meeting point for a diversity of actors (managers and decision-makers, stakeholders and humanitarians, experts and academics, artists and creators, local and indigenous populations). Focusing on the needs of individuals, families, businesses and communities, participants will discuss resilience-enhancing perspectives in an inclusive, multi-faceted, multidisciplinary approach in the context of before, during and after disasters.

In the current context of a pandemic, as well as an increase in the number of disasters and their consequences, it is important to consider measures that promote the resilience of individuals, organizations, communities and their systems. Faced with these multiple facets of resilience, the summit aims to enable the development of a multi-sectoral approach to understanding resilience, mobilizing all stakeholders to act in building resilience. It will also allow to learn how an individual, organization or community can be accomplished in resilience.

This event will allow all actors involved in and affected by disaster resilience to come together and collaborate in a variety of activities aimed at the interaction of participants. Beyond the presentation of the work and initiatives of the actors (academics, professionals, etc.) who are generally at the heart of knowledge transfer, this summit aims at discussion, exchange and innovation. Faced with the major challenges we face, such as disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and sustainable development, how can we co-build inclusive resilience that protects us from the hazards of tomorrow?

How can we integrate climate science and data-driven market analysis into business decisions to reduce risks and build economic resilience in the face of a rapidly changing climate?
